The Denver-based cosmic death metal visionaries Blood Incantation will perform their only Portuguese date on October 18, 2025, at Music Station, Lisbon. The concert marks the band’s return to Portugal with their latest and most ambitious release to date, Absolute Elsewhere — an album that has redefined the boundaries of extreme music and earned widespread critical acclaim.
Released in 2024, Absolute Elsewhere has been hailed by international publications such as The Wire, Kerrang!, Pitchfork, and The Quietus, the latter describing it as “the most significant death metal record since Altars of Madness by Morbid Angel.” The album builds upon the expansive groundwork laid by Starspawn (2016) and Hidden History of the Human Race (2019), pushing further into the realms of psychedelic soundscapes, cosmic mysticism, and progressive structures that have become the band’s hallmark.
Led by guitarist and vocalist Paul Riedl, Blood Incantation have earned a reputation for transforming live performances into immersive, almost transcendental experiences — where the intensity of death metal collides with hypnotic atmospheres and cinematic ambition. Their Lisbon appearance is set to be one of the most anticipated underground metal events of the year. The evening will also feature the long-awaited return of Author & Punisher, the cult industrial doom project of Tristan Shone, last seen in Portugal at Amplifest 2019. Known for crafting and performing with his self-built Drone Machines — mechanical devices that serve as both instruments and extensions of the body — Shone’s live performances fuse industrial precision with raw human emotion, blurring the line between man and machine.
