Twenty-six years after the release of their first album, Edenbridge is due to release their twelfth album on January 16, 2026.
This Austrian symphonic power metal band has maintained a consistent release schedule of good albums since its inception, and this one is no exception.
“Set the Dark on Fire” is very well balanced in its track order, always keeping the listener interested in hearing the next song; it can be said that this is a dynamic album.
We find songs with a structure more centered on traditional power metal, with a predominance of guitars and their powerful riffs and drums, but also touching on more progressive atmospheres, especially in the expansive guitar solos. This release also includes songs with a more symphonic component where the symphonic arrangements create harmonies and soundscapes that help to diversify the album.

Highlight goes to “Where the Wild Things Are”, which is one of those epic songs that includes bombastic choruses, and “Our Place Among The Stars”, a more introspective songs with phenomenal guitar work.

Along the album we encounter small interludes that convey a certain atmosphere and create bridges to the next song. The use of some unusual instruments in metal, such as the dulcimer, swarmandal, monochord, and electric sitar, enriches the album and adds color to its musical palette.

Like a lighthouse in a safe harbor, guiding the entire array of instrumental compositions and melodies, is the voice of Sabine Edelsbacher. Which, alongside the composer and multi-instrumentalist Arne “Lanvall” Stockhammer has been a fundamental pillar of the band since its beginning.

Upon their return to the Steamhammer/SPV label, this Austrian quintet has delivered another solid album to their already long career.
“Set the Dark on Fire” is a diverse album with a variety of musical structures, melodic and harmonic compositions, creating in the listener the sensation of being on a musical carousel, led by a powerful and warm voice with a very distinctive timbre.
