SWR Barroselas Metalfest announces dates for 2027

SWR Barroselas Metalfest has confirmed the dates for its 2027 edition.

The festival will take place between 29 April and 2 May 2027 in Barroselas, Portugal, continuing a tradition that has established the event as one of the most enduring gatherings dedicated to extreme music in Europe.

The announcement arrives shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 edition and allows attendees, artists and industry professionals to begin planning for next year’s event.

As in previous years, the festival is expected to bring together a diverse selection of artists from across the extreme metal spectrum, alongside its characteristic community atmosphere and independent spirit.

Held in the northern portuguese village of Barroselas, SWR Barroselas Metalfest has developed a reputation for presenting established names alongside emerging acts from the international underground. The festival’s programming has consistently embraced a wide range of styles, including death metal, black metal, doom, grindcore, crust punk and experimental forms of heavy music.

Over the years, SWR Inc. has maintained a clear commitment to underground culture, helping the festival preserve its distinct identity while attracting audiences from Portugal and abroad. Beyond the musical programme, the event has become known for fostering a sense of community among attendees, artists, labels and independent creators.

Further information regarding tickets, camping, travel logistics and the first artist announcements for the 2027 edition is expected to be released through the festival’s official channels in the coming months.
