Brazilian hardcore legends Ratos de Porão will return to Portugal this summer for a highly anticipated show at LAV – Lisboa Ao Vivo on August 1, 2026, courtesy of Notredame Productions. The concert promises to be one of the standout punk and hardcore events of the season, bringing together generations of fans around one of the most influential names in South American extreme music.

Joining them for the evening will be Portuguese hardcore veterans Simbiose, who will open the night with their own brand of uncompromising underground intensity.

The Return with Necropolítica

For their Lisbon appearance, Ratos de Porão will present material from their latest studio album, Necropolítica, released in May 2022 via Shinigami Records. The record marked the band’s first collection of original material since Século Sinistro (2014), ending nearly a decade without a new studio release.

The album draws thematic inspiration from the concept of “necropolitics,” introduced by Cameroonian philosopher Achille Mbembe, and continues the band’s long tradition of socially critical lyrics and political commentary.

The concert will also bring together more than four decades of material, blending classic tracks with newer songs from Necropolítica. With their reputation for explosive live performances and uncompromising energy, Ratos de Porão remain a powerful force in the global hardcore and crossover scene.

Ratos de Porão

Four Decades of Hardcore and Crossover

Formed in São Paulo in 1981, during the final years of Brazil’s military dictatorship, Ratos de Porão quickly established themselves as one of the most outspoken and aggressive voices in the country’s emerging punk and hardcore scene. Led by vocalist João Gordo, the band built its identity around raw sound, sharp political commentary, and a fiercely independent ethos.

Their 1984 debut album, Crucificados Pelo Sistema, is widely considered a cornerstone of Brazilian punk and hardcore. Recorded with minimal resources but maximum intensity, the album became a symbol of DIY ethics and influenced generations of underground musicians across Latin America.

By the late 1980s, the band began incorporating thrash metal elements into their sound, particularly on releases like Brasil (1989), expanding their reach internationally and helping define the crossover style that would characterize much of their later work.
