First of all, there was one positive aspect about the whole covid pandemic: The number of SWR editions syncs with the year in which it happens! So, SWR has announced the first batch of bands confirmed for the 23rd edition of the SWR Barroselas Metalfest, taking place in… 2023!
Triumph of Death might not ring a bell, but if we tell you that Mr. Tom G. Warrior of Celtic Frost fame will be taking the stage to perform songs from his iconic band Hellhammer, maybe this news takes a whole other level of importance! Also performing for the first time in Portugal, American grindcore veterans Pig Destroyer are coming along with their countrymen Profanatica, true bringers of filthy oldschool USBM. Black Metal will also be very well represented by Finnish Sargeist and Horna. Sargeist will return to Portugal after their amazing performance back in 2009 at the now-extinct Caos Emergente Festival. Hideous Divinity, Extirpation, Crisix, Gutalax, Insanity Alert, Amken, Himura, and Blodskam are also confirmed.
As for Portuguese acts, the first are Necrobode, Terror Empire, Infrahumano, Krypto and Biolence.
