CROBOT – Welcome to Fat City

CROBOT just sums up everything I love in rock n’ roll, nowadays simply called pure and raw hard rock. Some say it’s jut the adrenaline, good vibe kind of  music genre.

Basically, that’s what this is all about. Music that convey the best of emotions to you, and basically bring you up from shambles.

CROBOT, are to this no exception. They come in a line that goes back to Led Zeppelin with a lot of psychedelia. Even Brandon Yeagley have a lot of Robert Plant to it (even the resort to the harmonica on «Steal The Show»), with a John Garcia twist all right.

Speaking of John Garcia, Kyuss influence is here very clear and visible, either by the guitar innuendos à la Josh Homme, with a very sludge distortion, and a very catchy groove.

The bass on the other hand is very backgroud and monotone, and does not earn the presence expected. The same can be said of the other part of the rythm section – the drums.

Clearly it most falls into the voice and guitar. The articulate action is clearly visible all along the record, but it is on «Blood on the Snow», «Right between the Eyes» or «Not For Sale» that you can really see their predominance throughout.

All in all, what’s more interest in Crobot, is that they can maintain their tone, speed and pace throughout the record, and still keep you in. With rare exceptions of the very bluesy, slow «Moment of Truth», funk and sludge domiate all the album, making ths a very enjoyable play.
