MAMMOTH MAMMOTH – Mount The Mountain

MAMMOTH MAMMOTH – Mount The Mountain

Some of us fancy a good dose of old rock n’roll, with a somehow nasty sound influenced by Motorhead and Rose Tattoo. Music coming from a sweaty garage created amongst friends and beers. Mammoth Mammoth are one of the few bands that maintained that feeling, record after record. The new album “Mount the Mountain”, the 4th of their career, is another example of that.

Sometimes stoner, sometimes hard as a rock, the listener can hear that this new set of songs continues the bands tradition. Unfortunately they don’t have that many releases as you might hope for.  For those who don’t know them, take some time to listen to this and climb the mountain. Songs like “Mount the Mountain”, “Spellbound”,“Hole in the Head”,“Kickin’ My Dog”,“Sleep Walker”, and ”Hard Way Down” are great examples of how rock n’roll should sound. Mixture of loose, fun, and relieving music. The listener can expect great riffing by Cuz and a typical straight in your face rock n’roll voice by Mikey. Overall they provide very good party music with nice choruses. A well accomplished cover of Kylie Minogue’s pop hit “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” comes as bonus track.

Despite adding nothing new to the band’s repertoire, it’s still a great proposal from down under about how simple rock can get the listener motivated and “in the mood” for going out and have a ball. These Aussies promise to kick everyone’s ass, both on live performance or just by playing out of your stereo.

7/10
