New album from Marduk and another album about Second World War, but not in the vein of the “Panzer Division Marduk”. The only connection with the old album is the song “503”, that is the follow-up to 502 Panzer. “Frontschwein” is fast, raw and sometimes melodic, but it also features some slower songs more focused on the guitar work. The new drummer (Fredrik Widigs) did a great job with the solid blast-beats while the voice of the vocalist Mortuus is powerful and proves that he is one of the best black-metal vocalists of today.

Starting with the title track, we are in presence of a typical Marduk song: speedy and with guitars sound / work that has become the signature of the founder member Morgan. Then come “The Blond Beast”, a groovy song to which one can almost dance to. “Afrika”, “Wartheland” and “Rope of Regret” are fast and filled with killing riffs, and in the intro of “Rope…” we hear gunshots, but not only that sounds like shots: the drums also sound like a powerful machine guns.
“Doomsday Elite” is a 8 minute-long journey, initiated by spoken word. “Nebelwerfer” and “503” are slower, mid-tempo songs, rhythmically sounding like if we are preparing ourselves to war. In fact, in the “503” song, we hear the rattle of something, and the feeling “the war is coming” is very strong. The album ends like as it had begun: fast, with killing riffs and a drum like a machine gun, once again typical signature of a hellish band such as Marduk.
