Tool new album coming soon ?

After a long 10 years hiatus, the official webpages announce that TOOL has nearly completed the instrumental parts of the upcoming album.

Fans all over the world have been wondering and despairing for some new Tool material after the 10,000 days album release in May 2006.

A legal battle, that is finally coming to an end, with the group’s former insurance company seemed to be the reason for the slow creativity process. The messy situation started with an allegation that Tool misused artwork by not giving the proper credit to the artist. A situation that escalated when the band’s insurance was involved in the process and instead of the requested help also decided to sue the group over legal “technicalities” related to the case. Combining this to the fact that the band also moved on with their personal lives makes it difficult to get them together working in the new project.

Quoting Tool webmaster Blair McKenzie Blake:
“I believe there are only a couple of ‘shorter’ songs left to complete, along with a song or two or three.”
“Of course, we need to keep in mind any changes that might be needed to accommodate the vocals, etc, once the arrangements are finished.”

So what seemed to be an optimistic statement might in fact mean the the fans still need to wait a bit longer. One can just hope some teaser song or artwork to be released soon.

Leave you with an album released one decade ago but that still manages to impress as much as when it was released:
