Xapada Fest 2026: Lisbon is not prepared for two days of extreme music at RCA Club

With two nights of uncompromising intensity and a line-up that spans continents, styles, and decades of extreme music, Xapada Fest 2026 reinforces its role as a central meeting point for fans of underground metal in Portugal, offering not just concerts but an immersive community experience.

Lisbon will once again become a hub for extreme underground metal on 16 and 17 January 2026, when Xapada Fest takes over the RCA Club for its latest edition. Across two nights, twenty bands from Portugal and abroad will deliver a concentrated dose of grindcore, death metal, and brutal death metal, cementing the festival’s reputation as a key gathering for the underground scene.

The international contingent features some of the most respected names in extreme music. Maltese veterans Beheaded are expected to transform their set into a cultural and sonic experience, combining brutal death metal with narratives drawn from Malta’s folklore and dark history. Finland’s Rotten Sound will unleash their signature grindcore assault, following the release of their EP “Mass Extinction”, whose lead single “Idealist” underscores the band’s politically charged and socially conscious approach. UK-based Unfathomable Ruination bring technical brutal death metal, blending precision with apocalyptic themes, while Dutch death‑grind pioneers Inhume, returning after a 2019 appearance, promise a relentless set defined by gutural vocals and blast-beat intensity. British slam/brutal death act Colpocleisis round out the international roster for Friday, combining dense riffs with darkly humorous and grotesque lyrical themes.

Continental Europe is well represented. German veterans Stillbirth will showcase material from their 2025 album “Survival Protocol”, a continuation of the apocalyptic narratives explored in “Homo Deus” (2023), blending technical brutality with brief interludes of groove and melody. French acts Kanine and Embrace Your Punishment bring slam/deathcore and brutal death energy, while Spanish bands Bonecarver, Teething, and Lethargic add a mix of deathcore, grindcore, and death/doom textures. Portuguese bands BESTA, Serrabulho, Bleeding Display, Dead Meat, TERRAMORTA, Crucivore, Analepsy, Amputated, and Podre ensure a strong national presence, highlighting the country’s continued contribution to the underground extreme scene.

Among the festival’s standout sets, Stillbirth, Rotten Sound, and Inhume are particularly anticipated. Stillbirth’s performance will combine narrative depth with sonic brutality, while Rotten Sound’s set promises a relentless grindcore onslaught. Inhume bring decades of refined death‑grind experience, their live intensity offering a benchmark for the genre.
